Dave spent 7 years heading up The Hartman Group's quantitative team and designing innovative ways to apply quantitative measures to human behavior. As a member of Tinderbox and longtime sociologist, Dave takes seriously the notion that individual behavior is largely determined by situational demands and constraints, and for well over twenty years, he has been exploring simple and advanced statistical techniques in order to more accurately model the social underpinnings of individual actions. In pursuing this question, he has investigated lifestyle and cultural influences on routinized behaviors, such as health seeking, as well as spontaneous consumer driven production, most clearly evidenced by the formation of hundreds of "open-source" communities.
