Michelle Barry, Ph.D. – President, Tinderbox

Michelle is the Senior Vice President of The Hartman Group and President of Tinderbox, the strategy and consulting arm of The Hartman Group dedicated to culture, trends and innovation. Since joining The Hartman Group in 2000, she has applied anthropology, sociology and design to help clients' efforts in truly understanding consumer behavior and long-term implications of cultural change. Michelle has consulted with major retailers, food and packaged goods companies, various service industries, and sustainability networks in developing strategy, tactical recommendations and implementation processes.

Michelle holds her doctorate in cultural and medical anthropology with over 17 years experience in the wellness, natural and sustainability arenas as both a practitioner and analyst. Extensive national and global anthropological work with a focus on social influences, imagery and ritual has made her a thought leader in understanding meaningful intersections in human behavior and cultural trends. Michelle has appeared on MSNBC, NPR, Oxygen, as well as in national and industry publications.
